Trio remanded over Daniel Whiteley attack in Manchester

Three people from Manchester have been remanded in custody charged with an attack on a student who was found in a ditch with multiple injuries.

Michael Brownlie, 26, Nicholas Lindsay, 21, and Katie Mongan, 18, all from Longsight appeared at Manchester City Magistrates' Court.

They are accused of the attempted murder of Daniel Whiteley, 19, from Barnsley.

The three are due to next appear on court on 19 March.

Mr Whiteley, a first-year English student at the University of Manchester, was found in Platt Fields Park on Tuesday.

He is still in a critical but stable condition in hospital where he has undergone surgery.
