Fire crews have been dealing with a large fire in a block of three shops on a main route into Manchester.

About 30 firefighters were called to the blaze on Cheetham Hill Road near Brideoak Street at about 02:00 GMT.

The fire damaged the first and second floors of the buildings and the road was closed while emergency services were at the scene.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said an investigation was under way into what caused the fire.

No-one is believed to have been injured.
