A man has been charged with the murder of a pregnant mother in Rochdale.

The body of Saiba Khatoon, described by her family as a "very happy person", was discovered at a house on Darlington Road in Kirkholt on Monday.

A post-mortem examination found the 26-year-old, who was pregnant with her second child, had died from multiple stab wounds.

Siraj Arif, 30, of Armstrong Hurst Close, Smallbridge, has been charged with her murder.

Mr Arif is due to appear at Bury Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

A family spokesman said Saiba, who was two days away from her 27th birthday, was "always smiling, was a very happy person and loved practising her faith."

"Saiba is much loved and will always be remembered by her friends and family," he said.

"We have lost the best mum in the world, the best daughter, sister and friend a person could ever have.

"She was one of the kindest people you would ever wish to know and always went out of her way to help others."
