The family of a man stabbed to death in Bolton have said he would be "greatly missed by all".

Greater Manchester Police were called to a property on Ashton Street, Little Lever, on Tuesday morning and found Mark Stephen Leon Wood badly injured.

He died in hospital. A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be a stab wound to the neck.

The force has been granted more time to question a 20-year-old man arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder.

A spokesman for the family said 28-year-old Mr Wood was "a loving son, brother and father" and his family and friends had been left "devastated by the news of his death".

"He will be remembered for having a great sense of humour," he said.

"He was a true friend to many and will be greatly missed by all."

He added that Mr Wood had "enjoyed listening to music and playing on his Xbox".

A police spokesman said inquiries into Mr Wood's death were continuing.
