A busy motorway bridge in Greater Manchester will close overnight while repair works are carried out.

The Highways Agency is carrying out work to the Eccles Interchange, which connects the M62 to the M60 and M602 in Salford, over two weeks starting later.

Diversions could add 10 minutes to journeys when the bridge is closed between 22:00 and 05:00 BST week nights, and 22:00 and 06:00 weekends.

Highways officials said work was being done overnight to minimise disruption.

Diversions will be routed up to junction 13 or down to junction 11 of the M60.

Highways Agency project manager Mark Mosley said: "The bridge on the Eccles Interchange is heavily used and so it's essential we carry out this maintenance work, which will also involve replacing some of the joints on the bridge."
