David Short death: Grenade murder accused in court

A man has appeared in court charged with murder and attempted murder following two Greater Manchester gun and grenade attacks.

The murder charge relates to the death of David Short, 46, whose body was found at a house in Folkestone Road East, Clayton, on 10 August.

On Monday, Jermaine Ward, 24, appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court.

The second charge relates to an attack which took place at a home in Luke Road, Droylsden, also on 10 August.

No-one was injured during the Droylsden incident.

A post-mortem examination concluded Mr Short died from multiple gunshot wounds and an explosion injury.

Mr Ward was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on 29 August.

A further four people, aged 19, 25, 28 and 37, have been arrested in connection with the death of Mr Short and all have been bailed pending further police inquiries.

Police are still searching for Dale Cregan, 29, and Anthony Wilkinson, 33, who are both wanted in connection with Mr Short's death.
