Girl arrested after man found dead at Rusholme flat

A 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after a man was found dead at a Greater Manchester flat.

Police were called to the address on Dickenson Road, Rusholme, at 05:15 BST after reports of a disturbance.

Officers found a man with serious injuries including a broken leg. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police said the man is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be in his 30s.

'Complicated investigation'

The girl remains in police custody, with officers closing Dickenson Road between Birch Lane and Swayfield Avenue while inquiries continue.

Supt Wasim Chaudhry said a number of addresses in the area were being treated as crime scenes and would require careful examination.

"I appreciate that this morning's events will cause some alarm in the area, but we are working as hard as we can to establish the full circumstances.

"We are keen to try and establish the identity of this man and offer support to his family.

"We are also, however, conducting what is a complicated investigation - we are therefore carrying out inquiries at a number of addresses which we need to cordon off."
