Man arrested after man stabbed in Ashton

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found stabbed in a car in Greater Manchester.

The victim was found by police in a car park near Ashton swimming baths at around 16:50 BST on Friday.

A police spokesman said the victim's injuries were not life-threatening and that he had driven to the car park from another location after he was attacked.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and remains in police custody.

Det Insp Stuart Wilkinson said he did not believe the stabbing was "a random act".

"We believe this has been the result of a dispute between two parties and we have worked quickly with other emergency services to get treatment to the victim and also to make an arrest," he said.
