Greater Manchester care home Arbour Court 'neglected' resident
Inspectors have issued a warning notice to a care home after finding a frail resident being neglected.
Watchdog the Care Quality Commission said Arbour Court in Stockport, Greater Manchester, must take urgent action after failing to meet standards.
One person just released from hospital was not checked for over six hours.
A spokesman for the home, which provides 24-hour nursing care for up to 60 people, said residents' safety was of "utmost importance".
The home is run by Barchester Healthcare, which has over 220 care homes around the country with more than 10,000 residents.
Frail person 'neglected'
Inspectors visited the home in August and found people "did not always experience care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights".
The home set out an action plan, but in a further inspection in October inspectors found the situation had not sufficiently improved and issued a further warning.
In their latest report, inspectors said they found one "frail and vulnerable person whose needs were overlooked and neglected over a two-hour period".
They said records showed the resident, who had just returned after two weeks in hospital following an accident in the home, was left without food or drink for over six hours, uncovered and at risk due to displaced bedrails.
Inspectors said staff were failing to keep accurate records, resulting in residents being put at risk.
Malcolm Bower-Brown, of the CQC, said: "This warning sends a clear and public message that Barchester Healthcare Limited need to address these issues as a matter of urgency or face serious consequences.
"Our inspectors will return to the home in the near future and if we find that the provider is not making the required progress we won't hesitate to use our legal powers to ensure residents are receiving the service they are entitled to expect."
A spokesman for the home said: "Following the recent inspection, we are continuing to work closely with the CQC and have submitted an action plan to them which clearly outlines the steps we are taking as an organisation to ensure improvements in our service are achieved and, more importantly, sustained going forward."
