Salford arrests target organised crime

Twelve people have been arrested across Salford by police targeting organised crime groups.

The arrests were made on suspicion of a variety of offences including violent disorder, drugs offences and money laundering, police said.

Greater Manchester Police said the arrests follow an investigation into an incident at the Blue Bell pub on Monton Green on 9 December.

A group of men entered the pub and assaulted a number of people inside.

Greater Manchester's Police and Crime Commissioner, Tony Lloyd, accompanied officers on the raids.

He said the arrests act "as a warning to those involved in organised crime that it simply will not be tolerated".

Items recovered during the raids include cash, drugs, body armour and a crossbow, police said.
