Bolton man arrested over explosion that injured his hand

A Bolton man has been arrested in connection with an explosion which left him with a serious hand injury.

Paramedics called police to Lea Gate in Harwood on Sunday after receiving reports a man had injured his hand.

Officers discovered he was injured in an explosion and neighbouring homes were evacuated while bomb disposal experts searched the man's house.

The 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing an explosion likely to endanger life or property.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where he remained in a stable condition, according to police.

Det Ch Insp Sarah Jackson said the explosion had been "an isolated incident and there was not and is not any threat to the wider community".
