Manchester Metrolink trams to Piccadilly stops suspended to test new line

Trams to Manchester's Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly railway station have been suspended for tests to be carried out on a new line.

Metrolink said trams would not be running for the duration of Sunday but normal services would resume on Monday.

Replacement shuttle buses were running from Fairfield Street, Piccadilly train station, to Piccadilly Gardens.

The new line to Droylsden is due to open on 11 February.

A through service on the Altrincham and Bury lines and the Eccles and MediaCityUK services was running to Victoria train station.

Metrolink said no other lines were affected.
