Man struck by van in Salford dies

Liverpool Road, Patricroft The incident took place on Liverpool Road on Friday evening

A man has died after he was hit by a van in Salford.

Reece Duffy, 22, from Irlam, was walking on Liverpool Road, Patricroft, when he was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa van at about 20:00 GMT on Friday.

Greater Manchester Police said he was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries but died in the early hours of Saturday.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Liverpool Road was closed in both directions while police were at the scene but later reopened.
