Man injured in collision between tram and lorry in Salford

A tram and a lorry collided in Salford, leaving a passenger with neck injuries.

The crash happened on Eccles New Road in Weaste at about 12:00 GMT and the injured man, who is understood to have been one of four passengers on board, was taken to hospital.

Eccles New Road has been closed to traffic, while trams between Eccles and Weaste were halted for about three hours.

Greater Manchester Police and Metrolink have launched an investigation.
