Body of man is found in Rochdale Canal

The body of a man has been recovered from a canal in Greater Manchester, police said.

It was spotted by a passer-by in Rochdale Canal, Chadderton, near the Rose of Lancaster pub and Mills Hill railway station, at 07:20 GMT.

Police teams were called to recover the body and a force spokesman said inquiries were being made to trace family of the man, in his 50s.

Officers said his death is not thought to be suspicious.
