Vogue moves Fashion's Big Night Out to Manchester
A major fashion event is moving from London to Manchester.
Fashion's Big Night Out will take place in Manchester for the first time on 10 October.
Shops, restaurants, galleries and museums will take part in the annual celebration of shopping and fashion which was launched by Vogue in 2009.
Vogue's Alexandra Shulman said: "Once at the heart of a vibrant textiles industry, Manchester's importance to fashion is unquestionable."
The organisers said Selfridges and Harvey Nichols have confirmed they will take part in the activities which will be centred around Exchange Square.
Ms Shulman added: "London has witnessed tens of thousands of shoppers joining the fun and we're looking forward to sharing this experience with a new audience."
Manchester councillor Pat Karney said the decision to move the fashion event to Manchester would "provide a big boost for the city centre economy".
The Harpurhey ward councillor said it was "only logical" Manchester should stage it as the city was known for its strong sense of style.
"It is home to many leading and emerging fashion retailers and attracts style-conscious shoppers from across the region and beyond," he said.
