Man held over murder of Oldham woman Farkhanda Younis

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman who was stabbed to death in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

Farkhanda Younis, 30, who was known to family and friends as Jabeen Younis, was found at a house in Bamford Street, Chadderton, on Friday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem examination found she died from stab wounds.

Police said a 34-year-old man was arrested late on Monday night and was being questioned by detectives.

A 20-year-old woman who was also arrested in the Oldham area on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail until Thursday.

Police have said Ms Younis's seven-year-old son was found in the Bamford Street property when his mother's body was discovered.

Det Insp Terry Crompton said police enquiries were "ongoing."
