Wythenshawe mother and son deaths 'murder and suicide'

The deaths of a man and his mother who were found at a house in Manchester are being treated as a suspected murder and suicide, police said.

The bodies of Stephen Dohoney, 55, and his 86-year-old mother Ethel, known as Olwen, were found at the property on Saltdene Road, Wythenshawe, on Tuesday.

A neighbour contacted police after finding Mr Dohoney hanged at the house. His mother was found by police.

Supt Ian Palmer said he believed Mr Dohoney was a carer for his mother.

He said post-mortem examinations would be carried out later.
