Update April 2017: At a subsequent trial, Mark Harrop was found not guilty of rape and threatening to kill. He was convicted of assault, damaging property and breaching a restraining order and sentenced to 30 months in prison.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape following a manhunt launched in Greater Manchester.

Mark Harrop, 30, was wanted by Greater Manchester Police after a 22-year-old woman was attacked at a house in Hyde, on Friday.

He was arrested on Wednesday in the Cleveland area, police said.

Det Ch Insp Dave Warren said Mr Harrop, who has connections to Wythenshawe and Brinnington, had been aware police were looking for him.
