About 25 firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a derelict school in Bolton overnight.

Crews were called to the former Clarendon Primary, Clarendon Street at about 18:00 BST on Monday after flames were seen in the roof.

Aerial platforms were used to fight the fire in the three-storey building.

Nearby residents were told to keep their doors and windows shut overnight due to the volume of smoke coming from the building.

The school, which was built in 1886, was closed earlier this year after a new site opened nearby.
