CCTV footage of an 11-year-old boy being knocked down by a hit-and-run driver has been released by police in Greater Manchester.

The driver, in a turquoise Honda Civic, hit the boy on Victoria Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, at about 19:15 BST on 2 September.

Police said the boy "remarkably" only suffered minor injuries.

Officers appealed for witnesses and asked for the driver to come forward to speak to them.

PC Adrian Spurrell, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "To leave a young boy shocked and injured in the road, when you have no idea how seriously injured he may or may not be, shows a worrying level of apathy and regard for his welfare and I need the public's help to identify the driver."
