A man has been jailed for 10 years after being convicted of repeatedly raping a child when he was a teenager.

Scott Gale, 27, was found guilty of five charges of rape at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester.

He targeted his victim - who was under 16 - over a period of four years when he was aged between 15 and 18.

Gale, of Rochdale, is currently serving a prison sentence for a separate conviction of sexual activity with a child, and sexual assault.

After the sentencing, Det Con Phil Whitehead said: "These offences, and those he is currently serving a sentence for, prove he has a considerable and unpleasant penchant for children.

"The victim lived with the abuse for many years but once she spoke to police, told us how she felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders."
