A woman fought off a would-be car thief as he attempted to steal her vehicle in a car park in Greater Manchester.

CCTV footage from a nearby gym captured the 90-second struggle.

It shows a man getting into Deb Smythe's Audi as she opened a barrier at Green Pest Control, Ripponden Road, Oldham at 07:45 BST on Friday.

The suspect then reversed it at speed into the road with Ms Smythe, 52, of Oldham, clinging to the driver's door. After a struggle, the man fled.

Ms Smythe's daughter Louise Fielding said her mother was "bruised but a warrior".

Ms Smythe, a managing director of Green Pest Control, said she was desperate to stop him taking her car because her passport was inside and she was going on holiday later that day.

She said: "I feel strongly about people like him just thinking it is OK to take from people who have worked hard all their lives and think we're easy pickings."

Greater Manchester Police are investigating.
