A 49-year-old man has been jailed for 14 years for abusing two young girls.

John Quigley was found guilty of raping a girl under the age of 16, and sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13.

An investigation was launched after both victims came forward in December.

Quigley, of Lyndene Road, Benchill, Greater Manchester, was jailed at Manchester Crown Court. He must also sign the sex offenders register for life.

After sentencing, Det Con Susan Hazell, of Greater Manchester Police, paid tribute to Quigley's victims saying they had "bravely decided to contact the police and trusted us to conduct a thorough investigation and today justice has caught up with Quigley".
