Seven charged after Greater Manchester child sex raids

Seven people have been charged as part of an investigation into child sexual exploitation in Greater Manchester.

Six men and a boy were arrested in raids in Rochdale and Oldham on Wednesday after allegations of grooming by three teenagers.

A 16-year-old boy and five of the men were charged with conspiracy to commit sexual acts with a girl. One man is accused of sexual activity with a girl.

A 29-year-old man was released without charge.

  • Robbie Verbruggen, 28, of Tentercroft, Oldham, is charged with conspiracy to engage in penetrative sexual activity with a girl, aged 13 to 15.
  • Bilal Ahmed, 26, also of Tentercroft, Oldham, is charged with conspiracy to engage in penetrative sexual activity with a girl, aged 13 to 15, sexual activity with a girl and four counts of child abduction.
  • Mohammed Suleman, 47 and Dilon Rasul, 23, both of Worsley Street, Oldham, are charged with conspiracy to engage in penetrative sexual activity with a girl, aged 13 to 15.
  • Hassan Ali, 20, of no fixed address, is charged with conspiracy to engage in penetrative sexual activity with a girl, aged 13 to 15 and four counts of child abduction.
  • Jubair Rahman, 23, of Waterman View, Rochdale, is charged with engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, child abduction and arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence.

They are due before Bury and Rochdale Magistrates' Court on Friday.
