Man and woman killed in Manchester hit and run

A 45-year-old man has died after being critically injured following a hit and run in Manchester that also killed a 37-year-old woman.

The pair were crossing Princess Road at the junction of Greenheys Lane in Hulme at about 22:15 GMT on Tuesday.

They were hit by a blue Vauxhall Corsa that failed to stop, police said.

Two men aged 20 and 59 and two women aged 19 and 47 have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and are in police custody.

Police said the woman died at the scene and the man died in hospital.

PC Paul Joynson said: "We are fully investigating the circumstances leading up to this collision and are appealing for anyone with any information to call us."
