A teenager will face no further action over an attack on boxing world title hopeful Anthony Crolla during an alleged burglary.

The boxer, 28, was hit over the head with a concrete slab after he chased two people away from his neighbour's home in Chadderton, Greater Manchester.

The 17-year-old male was questioned and bailed on suspicion of burglary and assault after the incident in December.

Police confirmed he would not face charges over the attack.

Crolla required hospital treatment for a fractured skull and a broken ankle.

As a result, a world lightweight title fight against Cuban boxer Richard Abril had to be scrapped.

Police are continuing to appeal for information.
