Boy, 16, denies trying to acquire biotoxin Abrin

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court to deny trying to acquire a biological toxin.

He is accused of attempting to purchase 10mg of Abrin, under the Biological Weapons Act 1974 and Criminal Attempts Act 1981.

The teenager, who cannot be named, pleaded not guilty at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.

He was remanded in custody and is due to face trial at Manchester Youth Court on 8 April.

He was arrested following police raids in Tameside on 16 February.
