A man is being treated for serious injuries after he was shot at a car wash in Greater Manchester.

A man wearing a balaclava got out of a white car and fired shots in Bolton Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, at about 17:20 BST on Monday.

Greater Manchester Police said a man later checked into hospital with serious abdominal injuries.

Det Insp Matthew Moore, said: "Such indiscriminate use of a firearm could have resulted in multiple deaths.

"I want to reassure local residents a full and thorough investigation is already underway."
