Man stabbed in 'rival families' fight at Gorton pub

A man has been stabbed in a fight between two rival families at a pub in Manchester, police have said.

Officers were called to a "large scale fight" at the pub on Gorton Lane in Gorton at about 02:15 BST on Sunday.

Det Insp Brian Morley said a "known family" had gone to the pub, "some armed with weapons, to target members of another family drinking inside".

The stabbed 31-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.

Det Insp Morley said people had fled the scene when police arrived but officers were "doing all we can to indentify everyone who played a part in this alarming incident".
