Eight fire engines have been tackling a blaze which broke out at a school.

Crews have been fighting to contain the fire, which started about 14:27 BST, at Cromwell High School in the Dukinfield area of Tameside.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesman advised people to avoid the area around Yew Tree Lane.

Station Manager Phil Nelson said: "We're working hard with the school and local authority and the school will be back open on Monday."
