Murder arrest over Moss Side stab death

A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of an 18-year-old in the Moss Side area of Manchester.

Abdul Hafidah died as a result of a stab wound to the neck he received after he was hit by a car on Thursday, a post mortem confirmed.

A 19-year-old man, from the Moss Side area, was arrested after handing himself in at Longsight police station.

A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Police believe the 18-year-old had been chased by a group of men near Greenheys Lane.

A short time later, he was hit by a blue Vauxhall Corsa on Moss Lane East, before being stabbed.

Det Ch Insp Terry Crompton said police "continue to make progress with the investigation" and appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
