Oldham Athletic footballer accused of sexual grooming
A professional footballer has been charged with the sexual grooming of a girl under 16.
Oldham Athletic's Jack Tuohy, 19, appeared before magistrates on Thursday accused of grooming and sexual activity with an underage girl.
The midfielder, who lives in Arthur Street, is due at Manchester Crown Court on 23 June.
A club statement said the player was suspended with "immediate effect" until further notice.
Mr Tuohy has been charged with two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, three counts of inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity and meeting a girl under 16 following grooming.
The midfielder, who had been on loan with non-league Ramsbottom United, was arrested in October.
