Man 'stabbed 20 times' in Salford street attack

A man has been stabbed more than 20 times by three men wearing balaclavas in an attack police are treating as attempted murder.

The men jumped from a car and attacked him as he was walking by the Citrus Way and Mango Place junction in Pendleton, Salford, at 23:15 BST on Thursday.

They stabbed the 23-year-old victim before getting back into the car which was driven away by a fourth person.

The victim is in a stable condition in hospital following surgery.

Det Insp Ben Hart of Greater Manchester Police said the victim was "lucky to be alive" and appealed for any witnesses to contact police.
