No evidence of misconduct has been found after a police firearms manager was suspended amid concerns about decisions to grant some gun licences.

Greater Manchester Police suspended a senior staff member in April last year during an internal review of 10,500 licences held across the force area.

Concerns were raised about the "appropriateness" of some of the decisions made, the force said.

The staff member has been reinstated following the investigation.

The force previously said the concerns related to a "small number of cases", and "extra safeguarding measures" were being built into the licence application process.
