Three people have been charged with handling stolen goods and perverting the course of justice after a teenager was killed at a beauty spot.

Ellen Higginbottom, 18, was found stabbed at a park in Wigan on Saturday.

She had been reported missing after failing to return home from college.

David Steele, 47, of Oakley Avenue, Billinge, and Dean Speakman and Vicki Calland, both 30, and of Cobmoor Avenue, Billinge, are due to appear at Wigan Magistrates' Court later.

Mark Buckley, 51, of New Hall Lane, Preston, who has been charged with Ellen's murder, appeared at the same court earlier and was remanded to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday.

Friends said Ellen was last seen at Orrell Water Park on Friday afternoon. Police found her body at about 02:30 BST on Saturday following a search.

Her family asked people not to label the suspects as "animals".

They said: "Ellen loved animals and the psychology student in her would tell you it takes the complexity of a human mind to conjure such exquisite evil."
