A woman is in a critical condition and three others have been injured in a hit-and-run crash in Bolton.

Police said a blue Ford Focus "was seen driving erratically" before it hit a taxi on Bradford Street at about 03:10 GMT.

All three passengers, who are in their early 30s, were seriously hurt with one in a critical condition while the taxi driver, 44, received minor injuries.

Police appealed for the Ford driver, who ran away, to come forward.

PC Paul Shore, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "My thoughts are with the three women who were in the taxi last night and their families, it is heart breaking when innocent people are caught up in collisions in this way.

"It is vital that the driver hands himself in to police as soon as possible. They know who they are, and they know it is the right thing to do."

He also asked for any witnesses to contact police.
