A second person has been arrested after a man was shot at his home.

The 49-year-old victim was shot in the stomach after three masked men forced their way into his house in Glebelands Road, Prestwich, on Monday night.

Greater Manchester Police said the trio had gone to the house earlier, left and returned to carry out the attack at about 20:40 GMT.

The victim is in a critical condition. A 24-year-old from Whitefield was held on suspicion of attempted murder.

He will be interviewed by police, who previously arrested and bailed a 33-year-old man, also from Whitefield, on suspicion of attempted murder.

Det Ch Insp Charlotte Cadden said the offenders were believed to have been in a white Fiat 500 car before the shooting, which had been seized by the force.

"If you saw this car in the area or anything suspicious - even the tiniest detail - please get in touch," she said.
