A motorcyclist who died in a collision with a car was a "loving father", his family have said.

Michael Pilkington, 30, from Haughton Green in Tameside, was in a crash with a Peugeot in Hyde Road, Manchester, at about 07:00 GMT on Tuesday.

He was treated by the emergency services at the scene before being taken to hospital where he died, police said.

The Peugeot driver was treated for minor injuries in hospital.

Paying tribute to him, his family said: "Michael was a loving father to his beautiful son and daughter, partner to Jade, son to his parents John and Lindsay and brother to Natasha and Scott.

"We are struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of our beloved Michael and ask to be allowed to grieve as a family at this time."
