Father jailed for attack on Wirral teacher

A Merseyside father has been jailed for eight months for attacking his son's teacher in a school car park.

James Buckley, 52, was convicted at Liverpool Crown Court jury of punching Stuart Devereux, at Pensby High School.

The father-of four from Haddon Drive, Pensby, attacked the science teacher after a meeting to discuss Buckley's son's discipline, the court heard.

Buckley had denied assault causing actual bodily harm at the school in Wirral on 22 October 2009.

The jury rejected his claim that he acted in self-defence.

It had heard that the attack was stopped by another parent, who got out of her car and managed to drag Buckley away.

Mr Devereux was bruised and cut during the assault, and suffered headaches for several days afterwards.
