Bride appeals to brother who disappeared on wedding day
A newlywed bride from Cheshire has made an emotional plea for help to trace her brother who vanished on her wedding day nearly two weeks ago.
John Burke, 38, was last seen on 7 August, at the groom's house where he getting ready with other male members of the wedding party.
The father-of-two, of Ellesmere Port, had said he was going to a shop at 0930 BST but never returned.
Kate Williamson, 27, said she just wanted to know he was safe.
Her wedding to Colin Williamson, 26, went ahead as relatives became increasingly concerned about his whereabouts.
He was reported missing the following day.
'Put minds at rest'
Cheshire police said the disappearance was uncharacteristic and officers were treating it as a "high risk" case.
Speaking at a press conference in Chester, Mrs Williamson, who returned early from her honeymoon in Spain, pleaded with her brother to return home.
She said: "John, please come home.
"I don't mind at all that you missed the wedding, all I want to know is that you are safe, we all do. That is all that matters to us now.
"We love you and miss you.
"There are so many people who are worried about you and care for you, just please get in touch and let one of us know you are OK.
"Even if you don't feel like you can come home for whatever reason, just knowing you are safe will put our minds at rest."
Mrs Williamson also appealed to anyone who saw her brother in the Cambridge Road or Wolverham Road area on 7 August to contact police.
Mr Burke is described as white, aged 38, 5ft 4in (1.6m), and of stocky build.
It is believed Mr Burke was wearing a blue and grey Adidas jacket, blue jeans and white trainers.
