Boys 'used hedgehog as football' in Ellesmere Port

A group of young boys kicked a hedgehog to death in Cheshire by "using it as a football", the RSPCA has said.

The incident happened in Bunbury Green, Ellesmere Port, at 2140 BST on 15 August.

The RSPCA released the details on Tuesday in an appeal to catch the group, described as aged nine to 11.

"This seems to have been an extremely cruel attack on a totally defenceless animal for the pleasure of the youngsters involved," the RSPCA said.

A post-mortem examination found the animal had died from severe internal injuries.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RSPCA.
