Three men have appeared in court to deny the murder of a University of Liverpool medical student.

Muneeb Naseer, 21, from Bristol, died after he was stabbed in the leg at his home in Wavertree, Liverpool.

Alan Johnson, 30, Colin Clarke, 36, and Mark Hurst, 19, all from Liverpool, pleaded not guilty to murder but admitted conspiracy to rob.

Judge Henry Globe QC, at Liverpool Crown Court, remanded them in custody until a murder trial on 11 January.

A fourth man, Lewis Cleator, 19, from Liverpool, has also been charged with conspiracy to rob and is expected to enter his plea on 13 December.

Mr Naseer died after the knife wound severed an artery in the back of his leg.

His parents, Dr Nasir Aziz Naseer Bajwa and Sarah Naseer, described him as "extremely intelligent, dedicated and hard working".
