Two men arrested after man shot in back in Croxteth

A second man has been arrested after a shooting in Liverpool that left a man seriously ill in hospital.

The 34-year-old was shot in the back, in what police said was a targeted attack, in Croxteth on Tuesday night.

He was taken to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his neck and back, but is now said to be stable.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Another man, aged 48, has been bailed pending further inquiries.

The latest suspect, from Fazakerley, was being questioned on Wednesday evening.

The area around Invergarry Close was cordoned off for forensic examination after the shooting and police have stepped up patrols in the area.

Officers believe it was a targeted attack but say the motive is as yet unclear.
