Gunman 'may have shot wrong house' in Aigburth Vale

Shots have been fired at a house in Liverpool by a gunman who police believe may have targeted the wrong house.

Officers were called to Cromer Road in Aigburth Vale at about 2100 GMT on Wednesday.

Nobody was injured but the door of the house was damaged, a Merseyside Police spokeswoman said.

Detectives want to trace a man in dark clothing who was seen running from the scene and along Rundle Road.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.

Det Sgt Paul Speight, of Merseyside Police, said: "An investigation is underway to establish the motive behind this shooting and at this stage we are looking at the possibility that this address may have been mistakenly targeted.

"House-to-house inquiries are ongoing and officers are working to identify the motive and the offenders responsible for this attack."
