Liverpool Hope University staff vote to strike

Lecturers at Liverpool Hope University have voted in favour of strike action over job losses.

Almost 85% of University and College Union (UCU) members voted for action after learning that 100 posts may be axed.

The union said it is drawing up alternative plans to help higher education institutions deal with cuts without having to impose job losses.

It said that dates for strike action were being considered.

UCU members at Liverpool University and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine are to strike on 22 and 24 March in protest about proposed changes to pensions.
