Man shot in leg at 'while out walking' on Merseyside

A 25-year-old man who was shot in the leg on Merseyside has refused to tell police where the incident happened.

The man went to hospital with gunshot wounds, and told staff that he had been shot while out walking.

Police said the man would not say where or when he was shot. They believe it happened at about 2215 GMT on Monday.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Police seized the white van he travelled to hospital in for forensic examination.

It is believed to be a targeted attack but a motive is unclear.

Detectives are urging anyone who has any information about the incident to contact them.
