Cyclist critical after Liverpool car accident

A cyclist is in a critical condition in hospital after an accident involving a car in Liverpool.

The accident happened on Upper Parliament Street at about 1745 GMT on Friday.

The 33-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital to be treated for serious head injuries. He is critically ill.

The road was closed for forensic examination. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping Merseyside Police with their inquiries.
