Murder charge after man knocked down in Toxteth

A man has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Darren Bates in Liverpool.

Mr Bates, who has a four-year-old son, died in hospital after he was run over by a car in North Hill Street, Toxteth, at 0020 GMT on 17 March.

Clifford Tucker, 25, of Springwood Avenue, Garston, is charged with his murder and is due to appear before Liverpool magistrates on Monday.

A man and a woman have been released on police bail.

The 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and the woman, 41, on suspicion of harbouring a fugitive.
