Merseyside policemen arrested in theft probe

Three Merseyside police officers are being investigated for allegedly selling stolen property on the internet auction site eBay.

A force statement said they had been arrested and suspended on suspicion of theft and misconduct in a public office.

The men, aged 36, 37 and 43, were arrested at their homes earlier this month, it added.

The statement added all three had been bailed pending further inquires.

It is understood the arrests followed a complaint items taken during police raids had ended up on the auction site.

Officers from the force's professional standards unit are carrying out an internal investigation.
